Nahim MARUN

​

The brazilian pianist NAHIM MARUN has been invited to perform as a soloist and as a chamber musician in Brazil, United States, France and Italy. Marun received first prizes of many national competitions in Brazil. He was chosen by The Sao Paulo Critics of Art Association “Soloist of the Year” and nominee “Best Pianist” in the 4th Edition of Carlos Gomes Award.

The CD Violin Music in Brazil, recorded with the violinist Claudio Cruz (Dynamic, Italy) was nominated among the best of the year by The Iberian and Latin American Society of London and was acclaimed by Mark Lehmann for these “superb performances” (American Record Guide). Mr. Marun recordings of Villa-Lobos’ The Baby’s Family book I (CD Villa-Lobos in Paris) received the Diapason d’or and the Bravo! Award of Best Classical CD in 2006. Mr. Marun has also recorded accompanying the Brazilian soprano Claudia Riccitelli on both complete cycle of Serestas and Modinhas and Songs I by Villa-Lobos (CD Agua de Fonte, Clássicos, Sao Paulo). He was invited as a soloist of Beethoven’s Fantasy op. 80 on live recording DVD of the 70 years of Ribeirao Preto Orchestra and to perform Flo Meneses Pulsares for piano and orchestra (DVD, PanAroma, Sao Paulo).

Mr. Marun received Master Degree in Performance from The Mannes College of Music of New York (CAPES scholarship), Doctor Degree by the University of Campinas and Post-Doctorate of the Université Paris-Sorbonne Paris-IV (FAPESP scholarship). Mr. Marun’s taught as a piano teacher of the Arts Institute of Sao Paulo State University since 1998. He’s published regularly on several magazines and congresses and he also wrote the books Advanced Technique for Pianists, based on the 51 Exercises by Johannes Brahms (Editora EDUNESP) and A Critical Edition of 33 Songs for Voice and Piano by Heitor Villa-Lobos published by Max Eschig (Editora Cultura Academica).
